Mission Work
Dr. Jessie had two unique opportunities for dental mission work. The first one she provided dental care to the people of Jamaica. Locals would wait for hours to be seen to have much needed dental treatment. The lack of access to care makes it difficult for the people of Jamaica to get regular dental care.
The second trip was to the town of Jeremie, Haiti. In Haiti, she provided dental extractions with no running water or electricity. Each day the group would drive up to two hours away to different towns to reach as many people as possible. Lines of people would form before the group even arrived. The group would work until the sun set, trying to help as many people as possible.
Through these experiences, Jessie truly learned how dentistry can make people smile.
